Features

Exterior

Over the years, the Nissan Maxima has offered drivers a blend of sporty styling, world-class performance characteristics, and exceptional quality. The all-new 2016 Nissan Maxima builds on this great tradition by adding even more style, better handling, and superior design. The result is the most remarkable Maxima ever built. It’s no wonder the 2016 Nissan Maxima is on so many Best Performing Vehicle lists. If there was ever a doubt that the four-door sports car was alive and well, the all-new 2016 Nissan Maxima will put that doubt to rest. It’s available in S, SV, SL, SR, and Platinum trim levels.

As the flagship sedan in Nissan’s lineup, the Maxima has always been known for incomparable style and flair. This newest generation is no exception, with its bold contours and muscular lines. Overall, this newest Maxima is more than two inches longer than the previous model. The Maxima’s profile is also more assertive than ever, including its raised hind quarters and an aggressively chiseled front jaw-line. The Maxima’s boomerang LED headlights and wrap-around taillights complement the overall feel, while 18-inch diamond-cut aluminum alloy wheels and Goodyear Eagle F1 tires complete the package.

Interior

From the outset it’s clear that the Nissan Maxima is a driver’s car. With a console that’s angled toward the driver’s seat and a leather-wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel, the cockpit is all about the thrill of driving. But that’s not to say that the Nissan Maxima sacrifices any comfort for passengers – on the contrary, few cars have the luxury and elegance of the Maxima’s passenger cabin. Amenities include an 8-inch color touchscreen, sport styled leather zero-gravity front seats that are heated and cooled, LED ambient lighting, an available dual panoramic moonroof, and more.

Technology

As the flagship sedan in Nissan’s lineup, you would expect the new Maxima to be packed with an array of the latest technology features – and you’d be right. Even the base Maxima S gets Nissan’s Advanced Drive Assist Display, a rearview camera, remote start, navigation, auto climate control, 8-way power driver’s seat and more. Tech features in the higher end models include surround-view cameras, 11-speaker Bose® audio, memory seat and mirror settings, power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, the NissanConnect™ hands-free system with data services, and more.

Performance

Performance and handling are where the new 2016 Nissan Maxima really shines. The 3.5-liter V6 has been tuned to deliver 300-horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. And while this engine has been serving the Maxima for years, more than 60% of the components have been redesigned for the new version. This includes sodium-filled exhaust valves, anodized pistons, and a high-flow tuned induction system. The result is a zero-to-sixty time of less than 6 seconds. Maxima also comes with a newly redesigned Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with wider gear ratio coverage, dynamic step shifting, and an adaptive shift controller. This results in both better driving performance and improved fuel economy.

Safety

While the new 2016 Maxima is a true performance sedan, it also has one of the best safety records around. Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System provides protection from all sides, and includes front, side and side curtain airbags. Maxima has received a 5-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and is rated a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS. Other standard and available safety features include:

  • Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control System (TCS)
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System
  • Available Driver Attention Alert
  • Available Blind Spot Warning
  • Available Predictive Forward Collision Warning with Emergency Braking
  • Available Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Moving Object Detection
